Calf chamois in a meadow.
The mating period of the chamois (Rupicapra pyrenaica) in the Pyrenees occurs in October and November. In the same way as the Iberian ibex, the males fight each other, to be able to mate with the largest number of females. The gestation period lasts for 5 months. A single calf is born at each birth.

From the beginning of their life, the chamois hatchlings are already capable of moving easily through the most rugged terrain.
