Reindeer herds can be seen with individuals of all ages and sexes, but males are often separated to go solo. Herds of females and young are more frequent. During spring migration, small herds unite to form large herds of more than 50,000 individuals.
From young they have wide hooves to walk easily through the snow.
Unlike other species of cervids in the northern hemisphere, female reindeer do have antlers.
